ALM synchronizer FAILED_TO_READ_EP_ENTITY_TYPES

I installed the latest synchronizer for 12.60 Patch 1 for use with Jira v7.12.1. I am able to connect to both endpoints but am not able to retrieve schema. Synchronizer passes the initial connection check but it goes a little further and is unable to read the schema ERROR #1- server.link.FAILED_TO_READ_EP_ENTITY_TYPES : Failed to read endpoint entity types list. Error: server.link.FAILED_TO_READ_EP_SCHEMA : Failed to read endpoint schema. Error: server.RemoteExecService.UNHANDLED_EXCEPTION : Unknown exception type is caught: com.hp.qc.synchronizer.adapters.exceptions.AdapterException: adapter.GENERAL_FAILURE... ERROR #2- server.link.FAILED_TO_READ_EP_SCHEMA : Failed to read endpoint schema.
